JULES MADJAR - LANE
Jules is a multi-instrumentalist musician with 20 years of experience in music performance across various acts and session work, primarily as a saxophonist or pianist. Occasionally, Jules performs in plays, with the most recent theatrical performance being as a bard in This Turbulent Priest, a Bad Husky Productions play about Thomas Becket and Henry II. In musicals, Jules has been involved either as part of the accompanying band or as a member of the band itself, such as in a live
SARA STRAIN - LADY BRACKNELL
Sara studied Drama and Theatre in Education many, many years ago, and only returned to Drama some 15 years ago. Since then, Sara has been involved in amateur dramatics both acting and directing in a variety of productions. Her experience spans everything from Ayckbourn and Shakespeare to the much-loved tradition of PANTO. She continues to enjoy the creativity, camaraderie and challenge that each new production brings.
EMMA SMITH - MISS PRISM
As an enthusiastic fan of 1930's-1950's vintage swing dancing, Emma is not quite a stranger to the stage, but is very happy to be making her stage acting debut in our production of The Importance of Being Earnest'. Emma read the plays of Oscar Wilde as a teenager and is loki forward to
sharing his heights of wit with our audience.
Emma shares Miss Prism's enjoyment in dabbling in a spot of creative writing, but has not yet progressed to the "three-volume novel"! As a seasoned teacher, Emma says she can quite empathise with Miss Prism's feelings when faced with such a pupil as Cecily Cardew!
PAUL MORRIS - ALGERNON MONCRIEFF
Paul is making his second appearance with GAPS, having previously pretended to be Elvis. Other allegedly humorous performances include Charles Il in Nell Gwynn, Mr Collins in Pride & Prejudice, Ayckbourn's Comic Potential & A Chorus of Disapproval, God of Carnage, The Bald Prime Donna, Wyrd Sisters, The Ghost Train, Much Ado About Nothing (and his own spinoff, Love's Loser's Won), The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Comedy of Errors, despite which Paul insists that he doesn't really do comedy. He is also a writer, with various audiobooks and children's TV under his belt, but oddly no plays (Yet!!)
ALICE ARTHUR-EBBENS - GWENDOLYN FAIRFAX
Alice is a graduate from the Court Theatre Training Company since 2025.
Her stage credits include Lisa in 'The Wonderful World of Dissocia', Mrs Bradman in 'Blithe Spirit' and had her own play 'Portent' performed at the Camden Fringe. She has also worked alongside the RSC in "The Dream: Met by Moonlight' at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Most recently, she was Nina in an Open Air Production of The Seagull' and she is now thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Gwendolyn to life in this
CAROLINE HUTLEY - DR CHAUSUBLE
Caroline has been involved in drama since school, church productions, amateur dramatics, and for the past four years, on Burns Night at the Five Bells in Eastry, she addresses the Haggis with passion and is permitted to become a terrifying Scot! She is delighted to be playing Dr Chausuble. Caroline lives life at 100 miles an hour, and slowing down does not come naturally to her, so playing the calm, considered gentleman has been quite a challenge!
KELLY HAYES - JACK WORTHING
Kelly is thrilled to return to the stage in a role that marks an exciting milestone in her theatrical journey. While she is no stranger to live performance, this production represents her first time portraying a male character. She has thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and working alongside this great cast.
MEL POSFORD - CECILY CARDEW
Mel has loved being on stage her whole life, which is fortunate, since a life without drama would be a very dull affair indeed. She has acted in and directed many school and university productions, and has more recently amused herself-and, one hopes, others-by writing and performing in the Middle Temple Revels. She is delighted to be playing Cecily Cardew and looks forward to bringing to life a young woman of exceptional imagination, minimal attention span, and absolute confidence that nothing will get in the way of her achieving her dreams. She hopes you all enjoy Cecily's sparkling mischief as much as Mel has enjoyed stepping into her delightfully determined shoes.
ISOBEL MAISTO - MERRIMAN
It is such an arduous task watching people arguing over an old bag and fighting over muffins. Isabel works in Special Needs education and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, playing sarcastic butlers, and writing books for children.
Her favourite roles have been the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz and Verruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and her favourite productions are My Fair Lady and To Kill a Mockingbird.
David Wilson - Director & Co-Founder of GAPS
brings extensive experience to this production, the society's first full-length production. As lead director, he has enjoyed shaping Wilde's sharp comedy with GAPS' signature mix of charm, wit, and theatrical playfulness. He has found working with Louisa as co-director deeply rewarding.
David is proud of the team that helped realise earnest and pleased to share this joyful, stylish, and delightfully silly production with the gaps audience.
Louisa Waters - Director & Co-Founder of GAPS
makes her directorial debut with The Importance of Being Earnest. Stepping into the director's role has been an exciting new challenge, made all the richer by working alongside David.
With a keen eye for visual storytelling, Louisa has led the way on costume design and staging, shaping the look and feel of this production with a blend of Victorian elegance and GAPS-style. She extends heartfelt thanks to Cat, whose prop-sourcing wizardry has brought the world of Wilde to life, and to Emily, whose beautiful scenery painting has added depth, colour, and charm to the stage.
